Ascending Thoughts receives its name from King David’s cry in Psalm 19:14 that “the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart might be pleasing to you, O Lord my rock and my redeemer.” Our deepest desire is to have “ascending thoughts” – meditations that are directed to – and pleasing to – the Lord.
The contributors to this website are young evangelical Christians that come from different backgrounds and locations. Although imperfect, we each strive to live in accordance with Paul’s words to the youthful Timothy: “…set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity” (1 Tim. 4:12). In doing so, we hope to spur on our brothers and sisters in the faith, both young and old.
Theologically, our views on doctrinal issues differ only minutely (some are charismatic, some are cessationist, etc.). We seek to avoid such controversies on our website and leave them to wiser, more experienced individuals. Our goal is to provide thoughtful, practical content that is edifying to a large group of people. We ask that our believing friends and members of our churches hold us accountable in this endeavor. Even still, it is our prayer that you would “search the scriptures” yourselves to see if what we are saying is true (Acts 17:11).
