I recently started a marketing position at the infamous Chick to the fil-A. That’s grade “A” chicken people. 😋 During the lunch and dinner rushes it’s all hands on deck and one day while re-stocking some ice, I got to thinking how it takes so many people with different gift-sets to make this business run. Let’s break it down:
- We need someone bold enough to start the business.
- We need architects and builders to build the store.
- We need companies to print all of the supplies like the labeled cups, napkins, trays, etc.
- We need people to make the systems for the registers and the machines for the ice.
- We need people who have great customer service to run the front of the house.
- We need great cooks to come up with all the delicious recipes (Holla at the person who came up with Chick-fil-A sauce and those CFA cookies, 😍)
- We need people to make sure the restaurant is clean.
- We need people to bring more business in and host events within the community.
Basically, we need a ton of people to make things work.
The beautiful thing about it is, one person couldn’t possibly do this all by themselves.
And while I was scooping that ice, feeling slightly frustrated because I wanted to be working on marketing material, God gave me this beautiful picture of all that it takes to run this business. And isn’t this quite an example of the body of Christ?
1 Corinthians 12:18 “But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.”
God’s children are the body of Christ. Though many parts, we are one in Him. 1 Corinthians 12:21-26 goes on to talk about how each part of the body can’t say to another, “I don’t need you”, but that each has its own function and “should have equal concern for each other”.
We need each other friends. We were created for a relationship with God most importantly and also to be in relationships with each other.
(Just a brief side note that’s a whole other message in itself; when we allow comparison, rivalry, jealousy or anger to come in, we are believing the lies of the enemy and forfeiting healthy relationships. God see’s each of us and wants us to love Him and our brothers and sisters while we blossom where He has placed us.)
Each of us are important, worthy, loved and cherished. Wanna know how I know that? Because God has written that all over His love letter to us, the Bible. We are all “indispensable” in Christ (1 Corinthians 12:22).
So if you’re in a season scooping ice or taking out the trash, do that unto The Lord. I know it might not be where you want to be but just as in the restaurant, it is an essential function that cannot be voided.
Be faithful in the small (Luke 16:10). Love your brothers and sisters around you and blossom where God has planted you. God says you are worthy and that’s what matters most.
We all need to be doing the work that The Lord has put in front of us because as a team, with GOD as our head Coach, we win. Jesus has won and we are on His team.
Love your brothers and sisters around you and blossom where God has planted you. God says you are worthy and that’s what matters most.
